What Does Judo Teach you?
Judo is a Japanese martial art and was developed as a form of unarmed combat that was safe, fun, and effective. Judo teaches you how to fall properly and leverage your opponent to subdue them. Judo is a skill that will stay with you throughout your life.
Even if you are in your teens or 70s and have never tried judo before, we can teach you and help you to become skilled. This will help your entire body as well as your mind to grow stronger as you acquire new skills.
Is There an Active Parent Community?
Absolutely, we encourage parents to get involved in their child’s judo. Parents are welcome and encouraged to support their kids and to watch the Judo sessions we run on Wednesdays Saturdays (bring your coffee) at Blackman Park Lane Cove.
Can Judo be Used to Defend Oneself or Others?
It certainly can, Judo is so much more than just self-defence. It is a way of life, that helps guide you. It shows you how to overcome adversity and be your truest and best self. For both women and men alike when you cannot run to protect yourself you will learn how to defend instead, Judo is centuries-old and a highly effective form of self-defence.
Is Judo Suitable for Women?
No doubt about it, in fact, Judo is an ideal sport and form of defence for Women as one of the primary tenets of Judo is leverage. Leverage is key, as it allows you to face a much bigger opponent by utilising your opponent’s momentum effectively. Throwing and grappling techniques learned in Judo can be the answer to removing yourself from a threatening, physical situation. The regular practice of Judo teaches one to be able to think through this process and respond quickly and accurately to a threatening situation.
Is Your Team Qualified?
At UTS Judo we have some of the most qualified and experienced trainers available. T
Each of our team of trainers have all attained a Balck Belt of varying levels. Our instructors are also fully qualified with the International Judo Federation.
Do I Need to be Experienced?
Absolutely not, beginners are very welcome at UTS JUDO, we believe that every step on the path is beneficial, especially that very first step. If you know a little bit about judo, there is a class for you. If you know nothing about judo, there is also a class for you. Are There any Fitness Requirements?
Not at all, Judo is a great way to exercise regularly and keep in shape, so all you need is a desire to learn and get in involved. At UTS Judo, being out of shape is not an obstacle in starting Judo. When you take up Judo training you will get fit and stay fit. Judo helps your fitness without thinking about it. So no better time to get started than right now.
