UTS Judo Kids Academy

As a parent, you want the best for your child. You want them to have strong visons of themselves and to interact well with the world around them. You don’t want their faces stuck in screens or playing video games all day and night!

That’s why judo has such a powerful impact on children. It gets them out into the world, away from their screens, and gets them to socialise. They build their bodies along with their minds and become better grown-ups in the future.

At UTS Judo we work hard to create a positive, nurturing environment for the children who take our judo classes. We start off with the basics, and then gradually introduce more complex moves. This allows your children to be constantly mastering new challenges and keeps them interested. They learn how their bodies work, how to focus their minds and really concentrate. And if they choose to compete in judo, they can really shine.

Yes, it’s an excellent sport that helps keep your child fit, and teaches them about supporting a team of other judo students. Yes, there are judo competitions, however, judo is more about competing with yourself and striving to improve your ‘personal best’. As your child grows in the sport of judo they will be rewarded for their achievements, by receiving the next coloured belt. They start with a white belt and their first challenge is to be awarded a yellow belt, then move through orange, green, blue, purple and brown. The last level is the black belt and there are ten degrees of black belts. You will often see the degrees described as a Dan, such as a 3rd Dan Black Belt or 4th Dan Black Belt, and so on.

At UTS Judo each of our coaches have achieved the degree of ‘black belt’.

In a world where kids are facing great challenges as they grow up, where the ‘digital’ age is providing a very different reality than that of their parents. Yes, the internet has provided an extraordinary way of opening up communications the world over, so much so that we wonder how we ever survived without it. The other side of this digital driven age, is that for so many of our kids they have become totally immersed and sadly addicted to video games, and an online reality that has created extraordinary challenges for their generation. Parents the world over are finding it very challenging to deal with their children. Parents however, who have introduced their kids to judo, have had a different experience.

There is no doubt that encouraging our children to be involved in team sports has an abundance of really wonderful benefits. Judo, like other sports includes these benefits, however, in addition it provides a ‘way of life’, teaches discipline, respect, drive, determination, and importantly how to defend yourself.

So consider including judo in the ‘opportunities’ you provide your kids.

The best thing to do is to book your child in for a free class. You’ll enter the world of judo and find out exactly why UNESCO and the World Health Organization state that it’s the best sport in the world for your health.

We have classes for children broken down by age range. You can pick a class for 5–6-year-olds, 7–8-year-olds, 9–10-year-olds, or 11–15-year-olds. You can also select an adult class for yourself and choose the right one for the level of experience you have.

Getting in the right class is important because every class focuses on different age groups – appropriate moves, and concepts. When you apply for a class, please let us know the level of experience either you or your child has at judo. That will help us put them in the right group and get your child integrated more quickly.

As you or your child gains experience, you’ll see the growth in yourselves and the fun to be had in this exciting sport. We think that once you or your child start with judo, you won’t want to stop!

So complete the form below with as much information as possible. We’ll get back in touch with you quickly with the time and date for your first class. Welcome to UTS Judo!
