Semir Pepic has been training in Judo for over 25 years. He is a 3rd Dan black belt and has studied Judo in Slovakia and Australia.
He represented Slovakia at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games and then continued by representing Australia at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games where he achieved 9th place. He again represented Australia at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
UTS Judo is founded by three-time Olympian Semir Pepic and is located in UTS Building 4, offering training of an exciting sport in an environment that is friendly, fun, safe, and challenging. With the increasing popularity of grappling sports it is a great way to learn throws and takedowns from highly experienced teachers.
Students will also learn how to fall safely and will also improve their spatial awareness. Semir’s jovial and friendly nature belie his vast experience and technical knowledge. He is capable of showing what will work for the untrained beginner as well as the seasoned professional.
Roman Garai is a 1st Dan black belt and competed in Slovakia for many years where he achieved numerous victories and accomplishments such as qualifying for the junior national team. Roman also has tremendous experience in fitness training, and has competed in countless natural physique competitions in Australia.
Formerly New Zealand's number one ranked judoka, Mark Brewer has over 11 years of experience representing New Zealand in international competitions.
As a multiple National and Oceania Continental Champion and 2014 Commonwealth Games Representative, Mark has trained with top athletes around the world in countries like Japan, Germany and Britain. Mark now devotes his time to sharing his passion and knowledge for fitness in various endeavours, including acting as a radio presenter, sports coach and personal trainer.
One of our students, Matt Peppas, has begun acting as an assistant coach during our beginners class. Matt has been training in judo for fourteen years, competing in many high-level competitions and often finishing in top places.
