Central Coast Open
UTS judo attended Central Coast Open held at Central Coast Adventist School – Sports Stadium last Sunday.
Our team of 6 kids and one senior. We are proud of the performance taking 4 gold, one silver and two times fifth place.
The day started very strong for our team with 3 mons/boys competing under 21kg category (10 kids in total) where we dominated
taking gold and bronze. It was amazing seeing two our club kids Luca and Guy fighting the finals taking both bronze and silver.
To boost the dominance we also had bronze match where our Max unfortunalely lost after brave performance leaving him with
plenty experience and dedication for more training.
Our girls Nadia U25kg and Cassia U29kg both taking gold was little expected considering their nominations for upcoming Australian Championship in June (Gold Coast).Another amazing performance for our Sergelen and three very tough fights U38kg category winning one and loosing two matches.
This was very first tournament for our boy and we look forward seeing him on tournament tatami soon.
In adult/senior category we had Eric fighting U60kg taking gold after two very beautiful matches both with more experienced and higher colour belts both finish by ippon. Eric is definitely at the stage starting to feel the opponents and applying what he learnt over the years practising judo. We can only wish Eric the very best for future and helping him with setting realistic goals and training pans.
